10 Nov 2009 : Biffaward successful for pavilion extension
Lewdown CC have been awarded £32,060.00 from Biffaward for reason of extending the current pavilion. Work starts soon on extending the current structure, allowing for umpire changing rooms, more changing facilities, storage and a much needed club room.
This will help the Club to become more self sustaining, with the introduction of more social and income generating events.
If you have any spare time please contact Tony Worth on 01566 783 313, who will gladly accept any volunteer input.
The works will be finished before the new season starts.

28 Sep 2009 : 2nds are CHAMPIONS
It has been confirmed by the Tamar League that Lewdown 2nds are champions of Division A of the Tamar League.
This is only fitting as they won 2 games more than any other team. The Tamar League presentation is Friday 16th October at White Hart in Launceston. There will be a good turnout from Lewdown CC as the evening team won the Division A Cup.
For more details or to book tickets, contact Nick Hayden or Brenden

13 Sep 2009 : 2nds beat Buckland again but lose out on winning title
07 Sep 2009 : 2 more boys selected for West Devon
Following Saturday's trail, Leon Horn and Callum Worth have been selected to attend the West Devon winter training as part of the under 10's squad.
They join Nick Smith, U11, Pat Ewen and Harry Williams U12 and Jack Williams U14.
This, allied with Ben Williams fast track to the full Devon U15 this Season shows the positive impact our coaching is having on the boys and Club.
06 Sep 2009 : Milton Abbot 'guard of honour' for captain but crucial loss for 2nds
With 2 games remaining, the 2nds would win the Tamar League if they won both games.
Travelling to Milton Abbot with 10 men, due to a ridiculous new rule, restricting the selection of players, Lewdown won the toss and asked Milton Abbot to bat first in overcast conditions. Accurate opening spells from Squire and Cooper, who bowled uninterrupted for 20 overs, with both taking 2 wickets apiece, initially kept the Milton Abbot batters quiet. However Hallam Riggs and Steve Gerry were eyeing up the short boundaries and proceeded to increase the run rate with the introduction of the change bowlers. 11 catches were put down by a usually reliable Lewdown and Milton Abbot ended on 157 for the loss of 7 wickets.
In reply, Lewdown struggled to inject any impetus, allowing the bowlers to bowl at them without manipulating the ball or hitting through or over the infield. Wickets fell regularly, with the opposition asking 3 excellent catches. The run rate was rising, and with only 10 players, wickets were running out.
Knowing that Lewdown 2nds are entering the Devon 2nd XI League next Season, the ever respectful and somewhat mischievous Milton Abbot players formed a guard of honour when long serving captain came to the wicket. Their reasons being 'for services to the Tamar League, love of the game and spirit of cricket'.
The gesture was much appreciated but did not deter him from the job at hand. His second delivery was hit out of the ground over the bowlers head. He hit a boundary laden 32 in quick time, before succumbing to a short ball that rolled and hit the base of leg stump.
Lewdown were all out for 140 but still have a slim chance of winning the league if the beat table toppers Buckland convincingly in the season finale. Lewdown have beaten the same opponents twice this season already, so game on!
02 Sep 2009 : 1sts gutted after easy win over Whitchurch
The first team missed out on promotion because of 1 less winning draw than Thorverton after thrashing Whitchurch but only picking up 18 points due to an unsporting Whitchurch batting against the spirit of cricket and playing to stop Lewdown gaining the points needed rather than playing to gain points for themselves. Strange.
01 Sep 2009 : Carnival enjoyed by all
Young and old, players and parents, all enjoyed the traditional end of Season Cricket Carnival on Bank Holiday Monday.
6 teams of 8 players were drawn into teams of equal ability and then into 2 leagues. The top 2 from each league proceeded to the semi finals.
In the final, Sri Lanka B, captained by Nick Hayden and Lorna Rolfe defeated Ben Williams team.
There were many new faces who enjoyed the format and banter, with new members saying how friendly and welcoming the Club is. The amount of alcohol may have contributed to this ...
All BBQ, scampi, chicken, chips, tuck and soft drinks sold out, as well as all the wine and most of the magners!
