Whitchurch v Lewdown Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 01 May 2010 at 14.00
Match was Abandoned 13 points

Match report For their first ever fixture in the Devon 2nd XI league Lewdown 2nds travelled to local rivals Whitchurch. With bad weather forecast, both teams were grateful to make a start. The Whitchurch opening bowlers bowled with good pace and soon had Lewdown 4 wickets down, with only Ollie Brown 32 and Nick Hayden 19 making any real in roads. It was the entrance of captain Worth, who, with some lusty blows, scored 60 runs, ably assisted by Mark Martin in setting a total of 165 all out. Special mention to 16 year old J Vernon who bowled with good pace and control.

In reply Whitchurch lost a wicket 2nd ball, but then proceeded to bat well with youngsters A Sivyer and B Barriball adding74 for the next wicket. Having won the Tamar League last season, the Lewdown team were not about to lie down and accept defeat and proceeded to then take wickets at regular intervals, with Whitchurch 8 wickets down for 137 when the rain finally halted proceedings.

Both teams will be happy with their efforts and 13 point hauls.
