Lewdown Cricket Club Won By 15 runs
Match report
Menheniot and Lewdown played out an exciting match this evening with Lewdown needing a win to keep their title race alive. After winning the toss Captains Harry Williams and James Weeks were hoping for a good bowling performance. Harry (3-0-13-2), James (3-1-3-1) and Dan Butler (3-0-22-1) took some early wickets and were helped also by a brilliant piece of fielding from little Jacob Jones making his debut for the U-11's with a run out from the boundary. Jack Simmons (also on debut) bowled extremely well with figures of 3-1-11-1 and with Jacob Jones (3-0-7-1) also taking a wicket it was looking good for Lewdown. Only Tom Dinnis (9*) and Tom Rogers (12*) scored any mentionable runs. Menheniot finished on 235-8. With a small total to chase Openers Pat Ewen (18*) and Jack Simmons (-9) started well and it looked rosy for Lewdown. But with some good fielding and straight bowling Menheniot brought themselves back into the game and it was going to be tight. Brandon Horn (14*), Callum Worth (-1) and Jacob(-3) batted well. Captains James (6*) and Harry (4) took the task into their own hands and chased the total down. Lewdown therefore winners by 15 runs. Lewdown's next match is a play-off against Werrington to decide who will play Callington in the Tamar Youth league district final.
