Match report After 5 rain cancelled fixtures in a row, Lewdown U15's finally got the season off to a start with a classy win over Ivybridge at home in the Palladium U15's league cup. After losing the toss, Lewdown batted first and got off to a solid start with Tom Fogerty and Sam Ewen seeing off the opening bowling batting sensibly getting the total to
43 before Sam got a leading edge and was caught for 19. Will Hodgets strode confidently to the crease looking confident from the start and got the total to 94 before Tom was bowled looking to up the scoring rate. Ryan Turner played some nice shots before being caught for 9.
Henry Penrose continued where Ryan left off and supported Hodgets to his 50 before hitting some fine strokes to reach 13 not out. Batting honours must go to Hodgets who played a mature and skilful innings, keeping his cool past 50 to make an undefeated 64. Ivybridge had bowled quite tidily with only 10 extras and so a good total of 153 was the target set.

Tom Fogerty and Thomas Boother opened the bowling with Tom bowling a fine accurate spell of 4 overs 3 maidens 1 for 3 runs. At the other end, Thomas struggled a little with his line but in his second devastating over, ripped the heart out of the opposition with 3 wickets. With the contest effectively over it was a chance for some of the fringe bowlers to show their stuff and all bowled with some promise, Jamie Everard and Henry Penrose both proving difficult to put away. This was supported in the field with a high standard of fielding by all exemplified by Corrie Burns who made some great stops at mid-wicket.

Ivybridge got to 91 with extras being second highest scorer, an area where the front line bowlers must improve if they are to beat stronger competition. All round a fine performance and one that was all the better by the respect and sense of fair play that was on display by the Lewdown and Ivybridge players alike.
