Match report Clear blue skies greeted Lewdown 1st XI for their first fixture of the season, a warm up match away to Bude.
Lewdown won the toss and asked Bude to bat first on what looked a good wicket but a little soft. Lewdown's bowlers got into their stride almost from the first ball, bowling with great accuracy and not allowing the Bude batsmen any easy from which to score. With the accuracy came the wickets, with Adee Edmonds,2-8,Kris Harris 4-6, Carl Weeks, 2-11 and Ant Weeks 2-0, restricting Bude to a poor 62 all out.
In reply Lewdown got off to a flying start and put away anything short or wide and reached the target in 10 overs,sportingly Bude allowed Lewdown to bat for the remaining overs and they reached a total of 223-8 in their 40 overs, new signing and opener Kris Harris top scoring with 58, U15 player Will Hodgetts,41, Phil Yeo,34 and veteran Carl Weeks,27, the main run scorers.
All in all a fine start to the season, albeit against a Bude side missing several of their first team regulars.
Next sunday Lewdown travel to Kenn in their last warm up fixture before the league campaign starts.
