Match report
Lewdown travelled to a windy and rain threatening East Devon, lost the toss and were put into bat on what looked a good Kilmington wicket.
Lewdown's top order scored consistently throughout the innings with Kris Harris (38) and Harry Geering (39) laying the foundations for Matt Witcher to continue his good form from Tuesday, scoring 73 n.o with 5 sixes and Ant Weeks, 50 n.o and gaining his maiden 1st XI half century, the pair putting on 98 for the 5th wicket and getting the team total up to an impressive 250-4 in their rain reduced 44 overs.
In reply Kilmington started well reaching 65-1 off 15 overs when skipper Charlie Hughes gave himself a bowl and with his gentle medium pacers picked up 3 quick wickets, reducing the opposition to 82-4 with 22 gone, and seemingly ending the Kilmington run chase. Lewdown failed in their bid to bowl the opposition out and gain the outright win, and with the occasional lusty blow Kilmington reached 200-7 at the close, Charlie Hughes finishing with 4-36. Worryingly the opposition top score, for the 3rd week running, was extras with 42, an area of play which needs to be fixed before it really costs us and ends with defeat.
All in all another good result, the 14 points gained keeping us 2nd in table, 2 points behind Hatherleigh
