Dartington & Totnes v Lewdown Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 11 Jun 2011 at 14.00
Lewdown Cricket Club Won by 46 runs (20pts)
Match report
Having lost the toss for the forth game in a row Lewdown were asked to bat yet again. Looking for a positive start early on things started to look bleak for the visitors losing three early wickets with only 24 runs on the board. The men falling were Mark Martyn (0) Nick Hayden (1) and Martyn Squire (6). That brought in-form man Mark Gibbs to the crease who calmly dispatched his first two balls for 4. Having notched up a 4th wicket partnership of 112 with Olly Brown (80) Gibbs was finally caught scoring 60. Wickets continued to fall with some good bowling from the home side. Jake Barber (21*) was left with no more partners as Lewdown were finally bowled out for 227 with three overs left. The pick of the bowlers for the home side were Glenn (2-16), Rustling (3-21), Carter (2-47) and Petherick (3-24)
In response Lewdown changed their opening attack to bring in the more controlled Steve Butler and Andy Vernon. Both bowled well with Butler finishing up with 5-34 off 12.5 overs. Clements (3-21) and Gibbs (2-29) also bowled good lines and with the other 2 bowlers kept the pressure on Dartington. G.Colgate (37) and L.Bligh (61) batted well together but Lewdown were just too strong in the end bowling Dartington out for 181.
