Match report Having lost the toss for the second game in a row Lewdown were sent in to bat on what looked like a hard flat wicket with plenty of grass. Openers Olly Brown (11) and Paul Daymond (25) looked comfortable until a dubious decision saw Brown being given out LBW. That set the scene for the rest of the match with more suspect decisions. Jack Williams (43) was given the finger when he ran a quick single and Steve Butler (0) who has been waiting all season for a bat was given LBW on his first ball. In the meantime Mark Martyn (27) continued his good form and Ben Williams (30) helped the visitors reach a total of 190 all out. T.King (5-33) and J.Crooks (3-44) were the pick of the bowlers for the home side who seemed pretty confident about reaching the total.

Lewdown welcomed Will Hodgetts back behind the stumps as they set about trying to bowl the oposition out. A good opening spell from Jake Barber (1-21) and Ben Williams (0-14) troubled the opening pair before Ben Williams was taken off the field after slipping on the damp surface for the second time. Mr consistent, Steve Butler (0-27)struggled with his length early on while Luke Miller (1-32)bowled with good aggression at the other end. With a second wicket patnership of 105 things were not looking too good for the visitors. The introduction of Mark Gibbs (1-26) who bowled a consistent good length and Adi Clements (3-45) saw this home side struggle for runs. Jack Williams (1-2) was then brought into the attack to try something new. He bowled 5 overs consisting of 4 maidens, 1 wicket for 2 runs which vitually finished off the run chase for Torquay. Lewdown failed to capitalise of the pressure they were building dropping a total of 7 catches and missing 2 stumpings.

A good result in the end saw Lewdown come away with a winning draw and more importantly 14 points. A reminder that fielding training is available on a Thursday night at the club.
