Lewdown Cricket Club 1st XI v Feniton on Sat 12 Jun 2010 at 14.00
Lewdown Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Lewdown and warm sunshine welcomed Feniton for the for the first evr match between the two clubs.
Winning the toss, Lewdown asked Feniton to bat on what appeared a pretty good wicket. Opening bowler Rob Mutch got straight into his stride, bowling no's 1 and 3 with his second and third ball and picking up 2 more wickets in his first five overs, at 34-4 Feniton were struggling with the South Africans pace and accuracy, a mini fightback followed until a run out and a wicket from Mark Jordan got Lewdown back on track. At 83-5 Lewdown were looking to finish the job, this they did with Kris Harris, 3-36, and Adi Clements, 1-12, cleaning up the tail. Feniton finished on 121 with 5 overs remaining, Mutch was the pick of the bowlers with 4-19 off his 13 overs.
After tea Lewdown's opening batsmen Kris Harris and Harry Geering stroked the ball around with relative ease and got Lewdown to within 30 runs of victory until Harris was unnessesarily run out for 37, Geering made amends for this error by carrying his bat for a fine 69 and seeing Lewdown home with 27 overs left, Mark Jordan being the other not out batsman.
Lewdown picked up the maximum 20 points and with Yelverton losing gave themselves a 20 pt lead at the top of the division.
